Over two-thirds of Indian children can only afford schools characterized by fear and discrimination, where textbooks must be recited and memorized, and little real learning takes place. Gyanankur School, is a Maharashtra state board school, started in 2004 by an elderly philanthropist, dearly known as Uncle Fernandes. We exist to provide excellent quality, holistic education to underprivileged children in India, empowering them to live fulfilling lives as caring and contributing members of their community.

Our fees are low to start with and we offer further scholarships for those facing extreme hardship. We champion the cause of educating the girl child and go the extra mile to help children that have missed school and fallen behind, to catch up to their age-appropriate class. We can continue to do this because of donations and child sponsorships from well-wishers like you that share our passion and vision. We are strictly not for profit and try to keep our class sizes down and our quality of teaching high. We work hard on professional development to make sure our teachers are always learning and improving. Currently, there are about 800 children enrolled in classes from nursery to standard 10 and we are proud of the 100% passing rate of our standard ten students.
